I am long-term, staunch and loyal Costco member…UNTIL NOW! Costco made a HUGE mistake in partnering with Citi.

The two companies couldn’t be more opposite from one another. Costco has always been very Member Centric and does anything and everything to keep us members happy…Very few companies compare to Costco when it comes to treating its members and employees like Gold.

Citi on the other hand, has a notorious reputation for operating with a Bullyboy mentality/culture whereby its customers are merely meaningless numbers to be abused in any way possible. This is common among the top 10 national banks…Citi, at number 6, just takes abusing its customers and not caring about anything other than its profits to a whole other level.

I've spent several hours waiting on the phone or getting bounced from one rude person to another trying to get an answer to a simple question about linking my spouses Costco Citi card with mine within the online banking system.

Citi’s online account management tools are absolutely HORRIBLE! You would think a bank this size would have slick technology…They DON’T.

Shame on Costco for not vetting out Citi more thoroughly and subjecting us to the pain and misery that is Citi.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

After the initial transition on June the 20, 2016, I waited for a long time for the recipe of the new credit card. In the setting of not receiving the card, after a good deal of searching and hours of waiting on the telephone I reached a representative at CITI in early July.

The woman with whom I spoke said the cards had been mailed to the wrong addressed and returned. Presumably the cards were sent to an address I have not used in over ten years. She said a replacement card would be sent out immediately and I would receive this in the next five or so days. After waiting for two weeks, I called CITI again and after a considerable period of waiting , I spoke to another representative who could not find that the replacement cards had been sent out.

In the meantime I did receive at my proper address, a letter from COSTCO indicating the last four digits of the card number as well as the PIN number (as well as several letters sent in your name applauding the choice of CITI). No cards or statement were ever received. At the time of my last call while waiting on the interminable “hold,” I did receive the electronic message that I had a balance due on this card. Nor have I ever received a statement form CITI.

I paid the balance and cancelled the card with the representative on the telephone and asked further that e-mail confirmation of my transaction and cancellation of the card be sent.

This has not been received. I was also advised that I must forfeit my “COSTCO CASH REWARDS.”

It is obvious that COSTCO was made a serious mistake in selecting this disreputable and well known consumer adverse company as their sole method of payment.

Cancel your Costco and use another warehouse club that will accept AmEx. Also, some credit unions are offering 2% back at warehouse clubs on their Visa cards through the end of the year to offset Citi and Costco debacle.
